Nagahama Fish Market

Hi there,

Last week, a friend of mine from Iizuka city asked me to accompany him to buy fresh seafood products in the Nagahama Fish Market. I don't eat animal since the texture of animal based cuisine is not so much to my liking. But then again, I am quite curious of this place since many friends told me the shopping experience itself is quite interesting.

So we went and took the car of the parking area and drove to the place.

The map to Nagahama fish market

We reached the place at 8:00 just to find out the the market is only open at 09:00, there will be some market officers stationed there guiding people to queue and line up before you can enter the market. People, mostly the elderly, come in the morning to get their hands to the freshest and the cheapest seafood products early.

Some merchants offer "grab-as-many-fish-as-you-can" for only 300 yen. LOL, I feel bad for these merchants who don't know that foreign students really don't know how to hold back. The rule is really simple you pay 300 yen and the merchant will give you a plastic bag in which you can try to put the fish into.

Hold back a little, dude

As for the products, everything that you can imagine about seafood (squid, octopus, snapper, tuna, sardine, and other fishes) you can find it there. They also hold fish auction there, the biggest catch of the day will be auctioned to public at 9:30.

46 Kg tuna to be auctioned
For seafood lovers, I recommend you to visit this place. The fishes are really cheap and fresh here.

#1 Post

This is the #1 post.

I have been living here for almost two years now and I love it! I love this city.

I have always wanted to write something about this cute little city, Fukuoka. Being stranded here since the end of 2011, I knew exactly that I am being lost in the right place.

I've been exploring many streets of this city but the idea of writing about it just came recently.

That's all for the introduction.

The objectives :

"To write about all the streets and what they have to offer in Fukuoka"

"At least one post per week"

The Methodology :

"Walking every inches of the street that I want to write about"
